Designing a Post That Stops the Scroll: 7 Simple Rules

Your followers decide in under a second whether to stop at your post or keep scrolling. You don't need a professional designer for every post, but you do need a few rules that make your design clear at first glance.

1. One message per design

One headline, one idea and one button or call to action. Details belong in the caption or a carousel.

2. Little text, and big

Check your design on a phone before posting. If you have to zoom to read it, it's too small. Try to keep the headline under seven words.

3. Clear contrast

Light text on a dark background or the other way round. Avoid text over a busy photo without a colour layer behind it.

4. Only your brand colours

Choose a main colour, a supporting colour and a background colour, and use them on every post. Over time, followers recognise your post before they read your name.

5. Leave empty space

Space around the headline and the product rests the eye and makes the message clearer. Don't fill every corner.

6. Clear Arabic fonts

Use a bold, clear font for the headline, and avoid very thin or decorative fonts for small text; they disappear on small screens.

7. A consistent style

The same fonts, colours and logo position on every post build an identity the eye picks up quickly.
